EdenTree Configuration Manager allows test engineers to automate the setup, archiving and restoration of any UNIX, Windows, or Linux computer at any time in a fraction of the time it takes to manually reconfigure the computer. The solution allows test lab personnel to easily and quickly manage and share complex system environments consisting of hundreds of combinations of computer platforms, application versions, software releases and operating systems in active testing.

Rebuilding or updating a computer with an operating system and application can take hours or days with other methods. But Configuration Manager automates that process, reducing the time to between 15 minutes and an hour. The solution is designed for test labs, providing unmatched features required in these environments. Transparency of the solution to the configured device is a critical feature mandated by labs, resulting in devices under test that are identical to deployed systems.

Designed for Labs
In much the same way that virtualization is being used to reduce space and costs and improve computer utilization in production environments, Configuration Manager achieves these results for test lab environments, ensuring transparency of the solution, multi-OS support, a programmatic interface allowing automated configuration of devices without manual intervention, and other key features required for test lab environments.

Configuration Manager can be used to recreate a complete test environment. Application versions, databases, operating systems, test scripts, and test data can be saved and recalled, saving time and eliminating set-up errors when recreating a specific configuration at a later date. The system makes it easy to capture and resolve defects quickly, by reproducing complex configurations in an error state.

EdenTree Lab Operating System™ Suite
Configuration Manager is a member of EdenTree's Lab Operating System suite of solutions, and integrates seamlessly with the company's award-winning Lab Manager 5.0 application, a drag-and-drop topology manager and scheduler. Lab Manager automatically creates test topologies by managing physical layer switches that provide connectivity in a test lab. The Configuration Manager software runs on a standard EdenTree appliance.
